Here is a restaurant destined to be a place where customers return. This excellent location on Main Street, in a repurposed building, is a great example of the revitalization going on downtown. If you read this blog on a regular basis you have come to know that I can look at the world through an emotional blur. A brick wall is so much more to me; the forgotten workman, pride in their work, the story the building contains of past businesses and ownership. I can easily romanticize the Main Street Gastropub into a place authors write about in novels.
You have to be careful what you pray for. I believe William Gorham has gotten it right. Years ago I belonged to a prayer group and we prayed for a new job for one of the men. We should have been specific. We prayed him right out of town. I’m glad William Gorham decided to trust God, and is now the general manager and executive chef at the reopened Gastropub. He was executive chef at Rocky Mount Event Center along with Mark Bailey who is now at the Gastropub too. You can’t ask for nicer people who are very huggable and serve food you will enjoy.

Ashley Johnson is the bar manager. welcoming and enthusiastic. She served three brisket plates to old friends catching up after ‘long time no see.’ I am happy to say these first timers will be back having enjoyed the setting, the food, the service and delightful staff.

Rocky Mount is now a food destination. I love that we have choices and you have to think about where you want to go. The Mill runneth over with options. A great restoration that has brought investors and provided a source of pride for the city. The Main Street blog unabashedly supports businesses downtown like the Gastropub. Honoring the past is paramount, but as Vice President, Kamala Harris would say: building a future is essential because without building a future, essential things will not happen.

Was at your restaurant for lunch today. First time there, with my friend. She had the taco burger which she said was good. I had chicken wings and order of fries. WOW – 15.00 for wings with no meat on them?? Mostly all bone. FF for 7.00. My bill with my drink of Pepsi came to over 26.00. That was just crazy. Will not be back. Not even good.

Oh, I’m sorry it was a disaster. Sorry for you and your friend and sorry for the restaurant that is positioned well downtown and wonderful people behind the scenes. I am not interested in expensive food but love lunch out with a friend. I don’t eat wings because they don’t have much meat ever. BUT….lunch with a friend is a happy time. Remember your experience that way. I’ll attach a hug for you as well.
