One of Main Street Rocky Mount’s great commercial buildings is Davis Furniture, a preservation show-off. Here it is with new wreaths bringing good cheer to Main Street. On Wednesday, in the rain and wind, I blew in the door to Christmas shop. I knew what I wanted and knew Davis Furniture has a nice selection of flags and banners, door mats and wrought iron display stands. I had a happy time checking off my list of love ones I was shopping for. It’s a lot of bang for your buck if you Christmas budget has a bottom line.
Here is one of the flags for the season but other themes are available too. There is a new vibe on the show room floor. I loved this chair, the coffee table-like storage unit. If you have a home theater or family room to enjoy, these matching pieces are way-cool.
Davis Furniture on Main Street is a business holding down their corner for the revitalization of Rocky Mount. In my admiration for the place holders downtown, for my role as cheerleader for the amazing commercial architecture that is the future, I am impatient. Yes, a pollyanna, but through my rosy glasses, I see the buildings that are slipping away from us though neglect and an attitude that has let this happen. GO DOWNTOWN, shop where possible, eat, pray that all the possibilities become realities in 2025.
