Rocky Mount NC Election Night-October 10, 2023

I watched the election results on FB with the Urban Conservatives. I am thrilled with the results but limping off into the night over the Andre/Ward 1 results. Adding insult to injury, the low voter turnout is unfathomable. 17% of available Nash voters and 14% in Edgecombe. The word systemic gets thrown around a lot. Rocky Mount has a systemic voter turnout problem.

I’ll get over myself but can’t help but think….with the clock winding down, why am I spending all this time and energy caring? But SO MANY do care and I want to be counted in their camp.

The next Main Street blog post isn’t about the election but about American baseball heading into the World Series. There is more to life than Andre Knight and the blog needs new energy and enthusiasm, and focus on positive things like our American game.

Here is a Stepheny smile for Sandy, TJ and Lige. Their reelection is great. I hope the coalition the new City Manager has put together continues to stand for what is right and good for Rocky Mount.
