I’m having a wonderful time, spread out with books, research and my computer. I was thinking about the news I listen to each day at home. Here there is a stillness, an orchestra of birds, the lapping of water, room to form my own thoughts about the state of things, which has led to writing this note.
It’s striking how swiftly the default response to anything accomplished under Donald Trump becomes a doom-laden prediction.
Whether it’s a strong jobs report, a foreign policy breakthrough, or a new bill with clear objectives, the Washington naysayers, many without the slightest expertise in the matter, rush to declare disaster.
Over night policy experts, they speak with absolute certainty. They may not know a thing about the issues, but it’s Trump they oppose. They reveal far more about their own bias and lack of knowledge than anything constructive to add to the discussion.
And yet, something encouraging is stirring. Across the country, there’s a quiet reawakening of patriotism, grounded not in partisanship but in pride, gratitude, and common sense.
Americans are tuning out the noise and tuning into what matters: results, values, and love of country. The professional naysayers, for all their certainty, contribute nothing to this rising spirit.
They may fill airtime, but they don’t fill hearts. That belongs to those who still believe in America, and who aren’t afraid to say so.
