Honoring Our Heroes: 250 Years of the U.S. Army

This week, the United States Army celebrates 250 years of service to our nation, a milestone steeped in honor, sacrifice, and steadfast duty. From the Continental Army of 1775 to today’s modern force, the Army has stood as a guardian of freedom and a symbol of resilience.

Here on Main Street, Rocky Mount, we proudly join in the celebration. Our historic streets have seen sons and daughters march off to war, return home to open businesses, raise families, and rebuild lives. The Army’s story is deeply woven into the fabric of our town, just as it is in communities across America.

Today, we tip our hats and wave our flags—not just in Washington, but right here on Main Street. Because every hometown parade, every preserved storefront, every welcome home sign—that’s part of the Army’s story too.
