There are too many empty, deteriorating buildings that blight the progress being made. Why? Now that Rocky Mount is part of The Main Street program again, we should be able to move forward. We definitely need a yearly accounting from the Downtown Development Office as to their success or not in marketing Main Street and area with sales of empty buildings.
Let’s ensure that we honor Main Street’s past while creating a vibrant cornerstone of tomorrow. Attend city council meetings to advocate for the protection and restoration of historic buildings. Share your ideas and passion with others by writing letters, attending community events, or simply spreading the word about the importance of Main Street. We must have a thriving, historically rich space that future generations will treasure.
