If All Politics Is Local – Hold On Tight Rocky Mount, NC – The Summer Rodeo Starts June 27

The first presidential debate will be held on June 27 in CNN’s Atlanta studios with no audience present, according to a news release from the network on May 15. I see two possibilities on the matter. There is no way Biden can stay on his horse. 1) Because of health issues he withdraws from his Presidential bid or 2) knowing the probable outcome, let Bidden prove that at the Democratic Convention, late as it is, they nominate a new candidate.

The problem is, there are no viable candidates. The Democratic Party has spent all its energy and time focused on Trump. How does the state of things in California make Gavin Newsom even a possibility? Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg is situated within the mainstream of the Democratic Party, but he carries a lot of baggage. It took him a week to speak out about the train derailment in East Palestine, then another two weeks before he stepped foot there. There is more!

The only scenario where Harris could be a contender is if Biden decides not to run for reelection. (I believe that is still a strong possibility.) However, even in that case, many Democrats are not enthusiastic about the idea of a Harris presidential bid. Her poll ratings are often worse than Biden’s.

Locally, we have Laurie Buckhout running for Congress. She is an Army veteran, a retired Colonel, and a conservative. With 26 years of service in the U.S. Army, she has dedicated her life to serving her country, including commanding 800 troops in Iraq. After retiring, she founded her own business specializing in electronic warfare and cyberspace operations. In addition to her military and business accomplishments, Laurie is actively involved in community service and veterans’ advocacy. She aims to bring her extensive leadership experience to Congress to address critical issues such as national security, veteran affairs, and economic growth.

At a wonderful old fashion Republican Women’s meeting at The Exchange in Nashville, NC, June 9, Laurie Buckshot and Jennifer Bennington, running for District Court Judge, each spoke. It lifted my spirits to join with the patriotic attendees, everyone enthusiastic and positive. This repurposed space on Washington St. in downtown Nashville is a restaurant that is open to the community like this Women’s Club event. The Restoration of the space is blue ribbon. Original tin ceiling, original floors, a lovely staircase to a child’s birthday party space. I reacted to the Americana feel of a political outing. I came away convinced of both candidates credentials to hold office. Genuine, well spoken, believable, prepared, experienced, and likable. Laurie Buckshot wants to secure the border, crack down on crime and illegal immigration, end the fentanyl crisis, lower gas prices and restore American energy independence. We all want this. Don’t forget to vote for Jennifer Bennington on the lower section of the ballot

Years ago we had a friend, Paul Day, who was part of the Chicago Advertising scene. He worked for US News Magazine advertising. He had a saying we all loved. He was known to say after sinking a long putt, “Ain’t It Great To Be An American!” It sure is.

As this summer rodeo season is upon us, get your cowboy boots out and that cowboy hat stored on the top shelf in your closet. It’s going to be a summer for the history books. Hang on tight! Click on slideshow below.

Stepheny and Denise Watkins, Skyvue Skate Land Fun Director, enjoying a Republican outing. Great food, wonderful location, happy and positive people, two worthy candidates, surrounded by the Red, White & Blue.
