Part 3: Costly RM Downtown Plans Are Unnecessary-Ask Stepheny At No Charge

Stepheny’s Free Plan calls for a sexy black book that, among other things, has the names and contact info of every out of town owner of Main Street commercial architecture. I would send them a collective weekly e-mail about anything that is positive, any progress being made around their investment with the intent of bridging the gap between Main Street and their location. The black book would have ‘my team’ of experts that I can recommend, use, consult with. The power washer, the social media garu’s, a network that I can talk with. (I remind you that extraverts like myself, talk in order to think and introverts think in order talk.) You must have people with the gift of discernment around you. They sit and listen to everyone and then say, “This is what we should do.”

We will pretend that Davis Furniture is on board with my plan for Downtown Development promoting a full, vibrant Main Street area. Family owned and operated since 1989, these wonderful people have been holding down their Main Street corner. My FREE plan calls for sweet tea and brain storming. Those of us that are seniors have our lovely things around us. Seniors are not likely customers, but I have an idea to reinvent a ‘Davis Look.’ The great windows looking out on Main Street are KEY to bringing new energy and marketing to the young customers who are acquiring their household furniture as their finances allow.

I think of people like Kate Tharin and her beautiful home. I’d make a phone call to ask her to bring her daughters and decorate one window with a young family in mind. People don’t usually say no to Stepheny. Help will come from Main Street Cheer Leaders, and create a Main Street highlight at the same time. After the holidays, would be a great time to begin. The reveal to be planned. Others with a decorating flair can be assigned a window with its theme. Color, special pieces that draw people to stop and look at each window. Not simply a table/chair, but the ‘Davis Look.’ Each window to entice customers through the door. We’ll need several strong teenagers to move the pieces selected for the window scene. We don’t need a million dollars but imagination, creativity, and talented people that help from the goodness of their hearts building a future In Rocky Mount, NC. The Downtown Development people sell property but my plan includes every building that contributes to the economic development of the City. These few slides below show what needs attention. With the will there is a way. Leave your ideas, reactions in the comment section below. It is about money but also about the story, an attitude that we are here to welcome and encourage you. Together we can do so much. We can repair the breach.

Six slide/photos below.

You shall raise up the foundations of many generations

Your ancient ruins shall be rebuilt

You shall be called the repairer of the breach,

The restorer of streets to live in.

  1. Hi Stepheny. We haven’t spoken for some time… this is Dillon Rose Jr at DJ Rose and Son. I recently came across a 1937 map of Main Street while cleaning out our safe. I thought you’d find it interesting, so I made you a copy. Pls call or text me at 252 904 9464 so I can drop it off.

    Thank you,
    Dillon
