Rocky Mount could have a wonderful tour too- SFH

Bungalow style homes are scattered throughout our neighborhoods. They are jewels in Rocky Mount’s crown. That is if you can see the possibilities in whatever state you find a house in. I hope the examples I include from my bungalow photo collection make you feel pride in what you have, are inspiration to buy and save one for your own home, to restore one and put it on the market. Rocky Mount bungalows contribute a significant architectural asset to Rocky Mount’s housing inventory. The preservation and restoration of these homes should become a housing priority that will honor Rocky Mount’s past while building a future. If only the Real Estate agencies would help market these great homes to clients for their many apparent charms or imagine with them what can be.

A handsome new porch brings the original bungalow-era design back to the house, which was built in 1920. The arbor gate and cottage garden are recent additions.

  1. Unfortunately, the people who bought our old house at 623 Sycamore Street back in the 1980s failed to repair the roof when it needed it in the early 2000s. I guess it became beyond repair and was torn down sometime after 2015. It was a very nice brick bungalow, with three bedrooms and a bath upstairs and a small furnace basement.
